After many years of wanting and begging, boy did I get it!
A new puppy, a beautiful
German Shorthaired pointer mix that we named Luna. Actually her full name is Luna-Blue-Playa-Del-Carmen-Tulum, clearly Luna for short.
[update 2/13/11] After some research, we think she may be
mixed with Pit Bull… Shes a Catahoula, at least thats what I’m convinced of now.
This was Kristiaan’s Xmas gift to me, actually she purchased a rubber bone, put it in a box, which she then put into another box and continued to do so until there were 8 boxes, the largest one being the size of a filing cabinet and presented it to me with 4 strings attached, literally. Each string had a different condition: 1. I had to endure all expenses 2. We would agree on the dog together 3. The dog will not interfere avec traveling and 4. Oh who cares 🙂
We love her to death… HOWEVER as prepared as I thought I would have been for the no sleep, house messes, commitment, etc etc I never expected to get such a medical, hate to say it, burden. By no means is it her fault nor do I regret getting her, but the poor girl was given to us by the shelter with Kennel cough, Giardia and within a few days of owning her she developed a seroma from her spaying (and seemingly too much exercise – which we were not aware of the restriction).
We’ve visted both the vet, emergency animal hospital and the original shelter over 8 times within the first two weeks and have spent over $1300 on medical bills! Dont you wish you could be my dog? 🙂
Shes been on 3 different antibiotics, anti-inflammatory and other meds for her ailments. Not to mention 4 torturous days of wearing a wrap around her seroma and the stinking cone of shame <- please watch that movie!
I think the hardest part is that I sought out a GSP because of their active personalities but because of her seroma she is on major exercise restriction. Do you know what its like to restrict a puppy from being active? Do you know how GOOD exercise is for a dogs temperament and sanity? Sigh… but shes so dog-on, pardon the pun, cute its sick! Dont believe me take a look below.
These are a set of images from Day 1 to today, the naughty day when she violated the comforter.
